WAYNE, NE – The Wayne Chicken Show Committee is egg-cited to announce the theme for the 44th Annual Wayne Chicken Show: ‘American Pluckers: Aged to Perf-EGG-tion!’ The theme was inspired by the hit television show “American Pickers” on A&E and promises to produce a plucking good time for all. The Wayne Chicken Show will be held Friday, July 12 through Sunday, July 14, 2024.
“American Pickers” celebrates the spirit of adventure, exploration, and uncovering hidden treasures. Much like the iconic duo from the television series, attendees are encouraged ‘pluck’ through a variety of fowl-fun, family-friendly activities including the Chicken Show Parade, the Cement Chicken Auction, the Hot Wing Eating Contest, the Best Chicken Legs Competition, the Hard-Boiled Egg Eating Contest, and the National Cluck-Off. Other activities include a live band, craft vendors, food trucks, and a kid’s zone.
To ensure the success of the Chicken Show, volunteers are always needed. The Chicken Show Committee meets at 5:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month. If anyone is interested in planning the event, organizing additional activities, or has questions about the event, please contact Rachel Miller at [email protected] or 402.375.2240.
Founded by the Wayne Regional Arts Council in 1981, the Wayne Chicken Show is held annually on the second weekend of July in Wayne, NE.
